Born and raised in Harbor Springs, no matter where life takes me, I will always call this place home. Below are some of my favorite places to visit and classic must-do activities loved by locals. Make a day out of all five or spread them out for some goodness each day, but don’t miss these Harbor Springs favorites!
Tunnel of Trees & Good Hart
A drive down M119 through the tunnel of trees is a summer and fall favorite. Even after 20 years I still gawk in awe at the scenery, exploding with color in the fall or sunny and green during the summer. Grab a picnic lunch at the Good Hart General Store and head down to Middle Village Park beach for a relaxing day by the water.
Tom’s Mom’s Cookies
Sweet tooth or not, indulge in a famous Tom’s Mom’s cookie. The award winning cookies have been a crowd favorite since 1985 and are a treat you will not forget!
Grab your basket and head down to the farmers market happening every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. As you stroll down the street you will find a variety of local fruits, veggies, crafts and many other treats, a great way to shop locally!
Check out Zoll Street Beach, often referred to as “the dog beach”, if you’re looking for fun for you and your furry friend. Zoll Street beach is completely pet friendly and a great place for a game of catch, a swim, or just hanging out by the water.
Dine at the Pier
My family and I love to dine over the water at Stafford’s Pier Restaurant. As soon as you enter it feels as if you are stepping aboard a yacht. With the brand new renovations, you can enjoy lunch, dinner or cocktails with a fresh breeze. Start off with the spinach and artichoke dip-you wont regret it!
Morgan Lauer is a student at Michigan State University and is currently interning in Stafford’s Marketing Department for Summer 2016. She was born and raised in Harbor Springs, her favorite place to be in every season. Morgan enjoys being on the water, hiking, skiing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
