Fifteen years ago, employees at Stafford’s Pier in Harbor Springs & Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant in Charlevoix teamed with their guests to create the “Neighbors in Need” program. Complete Thanksgiving dinners are delivered to area families by volunteers who prepare, package and deliver the meals.
Our staff works closely with local health and human service agencies in Charlevoix and Emmet County such as the: The Manna Food Project, Harbor Springs Food Bank, Charlevoix Area Food Pantry, Women’s Resource Center and local schools and churches. Last year, over 70 families enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, thanks to the generosity of Stafford’s staff and guests.
“It is always our hope that the spirit of generosity will spread,” said Jody Ewbank, General Manager of Stafford’s Pier Restaurant. “The need is great, the obligation we accept, and we hope to reach more families in 2019.”
As part of the program, Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant employees and other volunteers will raise funds for dinners, prepare and package them in the restaurant kitchen and deliver the meals to area families. “Our staff wants to make this Thanksgiving special for everyone,” said Paul Andrzejewski, General Manager of Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant notes.
