Their StoryIt all started in 2010 in one of the most magical places on Earth… Troy Kohl’s. Greg started with Kohl’s after he graduated from MSU (Go Green!). After being bounced around to almost every store in Southeastern Michigan, Greg finally moved to Royal Oak, MI and landed as an Assistant Manager at Store 467 in Troy. It wasn’t long that he realized that this job… wasn’t for him.
Before he left Kohl’s, however, he remembers being down on one knee fixing a mannequin on the sales floor when he was introduced to another Assistant Manager that was starting right before he left – Caitlin. Shortly after she started, Caitlin and Greg formed a great working relationship – sharing laughs (and the occasional frustration) while working together. They made a great team!
Greg left Kohl’s around Halloween 2010 and was unsure of what the future had in store for him. He didn’t know if he would ever see Caitlin again. Luckily, a birthday text came in from Caitlin in November that started a friendship that would last for 2 years. As time went on Caitlin and Greg became closer and realized that their feelings for each other were growing. Their friendship eventually grew into a relationship and since September 2012 the love between Caitlin and Greg grows stronger by the day.
They have shared so many memories throughout their years together including numerous vacations (New Orleans, Bahamas, Punta Cana, California, Toronto), fun with friends and family (Up North, Cincinnati, California, MSU Sports) and can’t wait to continue their journey together. Caitlin and Greg are the perfect match for each other and there is never a day that goes by where they don’t say “I love you.”
After secretly driving up to Petoskey in June and asking Mr. and Mrs. Cummings for their blessing – Greg decided that he would get back down on his knee almost 5 years later on July 3, 2015 to ask the love of his life, and his best friend – Caitlin – to be his wife.
Greg surprised Caitlin by taking her out to Palette Bistro in Petoskey for dinner to the sounds of the steel drum band. After dinner, we took a walk down by the pier and once underneath the clock tower, Greg got down on one knee and popped the question. After Caitlin said yes (and a few tears from both), they met up with her family at the Noggin Room to celebrate!
Why They Chose Northern Michigan As Their Wedding Destination
Petoskey is a special place for both Caitlin and Greg. After looking at a few other venues down state, it became clear that there was no other place than the Perry Hotel to celebrate with our friends and family. It is a spot that we truly treasure and are so excited to visit every time we come to visit Up North.
